Hello, I'm Emily! I swam competitively for 14 years and hold my National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level 101, and I'm Level 201 Trained. I coached and instructed with the Guelph Marlins for 4 years, supporting swimmers through lesson programs, pre-competitive and competitive groups. Currently I am in my 2nd year of coaching an age group program with the Collingwood Clippers, further building my experience in developing young athletes, as I attend Lakehead University in Orillia for a Business Administration degree. This is my 6th summer, offering private swim lessons in our backyard pool, and I truly believe in creating a challenging yet supportive program built on progression. The more time a child spends in the water, the more confident and capable they become. I'm passionate about helping swimmers improve their technique, build water safety skills, and reach their full potential, while having a great time doing it! I also take care of all the behind-the-scenes admin and emails, so if you're reaching out with questions or booking lessons, you'll be chatting with me!

Hi, I'm Abby! I swam competitively for 11 years with the Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club and hold my National Coaching Certification, NCCP 101. I have worked for the past 4 years and continue working for the Guelph Marlins as a lessons instructor and in the pre-competitive Blue Marlins groups, helping young swimmers build a strong foundation in the sport. For the past 2 years, I have been coaching with the Brock Niagara Aquatics, working as an age group swim coach, as I attend Brock University for Concurrent Education. This will be my 6th summer offering swim lessons in our backyard pool, and I'm so excited to get back in the water! I believe that having fun and consistent repetition are the keys to learning, and I love watching my swimmers grow more confident with each session.

Find answers to common questions about our swim lesson program.

Towel, goggles, wear sunscreen, wear your swimsuit to the pool.

Five minutes prior. Please wait outside the pool gate and the instructor will come get you when ready.

We only supply a bathroom for emergency uses (NOT TO CHANGE.)

We provide seating right beside the pool, you are more than welcome to sit there, but if your child does get distracted very easily we also have a gazebo where you have a view of the pool but harder for the children to see you. You are also welcome to leave if you wish.

We recommend to start with 30 minute lessons unless you are a returning member who had 60 minutes, or we have assessed if your child(ren) can handle a longer lesson. We find attention spans may vary per child. Sometimes coming more frequently is best.

Swim lessons are $24 for a 30 minute lesson per child and $48 for a one hour session per child. Payments are due the SATURDAY before your lessons that fall from Monday through Saturday of the following week via e-transfer to [email protected] (password: swimming).

Thunderstorms we only cancel if at our location there is a storm. Sometimes the weather isn't the same in Guelph as it is in Puslinch. If we know in advance, we will do our best to try to reach out and move a lesson to a different day, if possible. If during a lesson, we hear thunder, we will sit out for 15 minutes, if no more thunder the lesson will proceed. If thunder continues, lessons will be postponed to another day. This means we could run 15 minutes behind in a day. Please be understanding. You will only be charged for the amount of time your child was in the water.

Cancellations may be completed through your online account up until Saturday for the following week (Monday through Saturday). Please ensure any changes are made by the Saturday deadline, as instructors are scheduled in advance and time is reserved specifically for your lesson. It is your responsibility to log in and cancel. Cancellations submitted after Saturday will be treated as a missed lesson and charged accordingly. There will be no exception to this policy. Any lessons not paid by Saturday midnight for lessons the following week (Monday through Saturday) will be automatically cancelled.

Click "My Lessons", here you can view your lessons booked and you have the option to cancel a booking if before the Saturday cutoff for that week.

These young entrepreneurs are fantastic! From having a professional website with easy online booking system, to regular reminders of both upcoming lessons and payment due, the team is highly organized. Then comes the actual lesson! Tailored to each individual swimmer so that they are both comfortable in the water and challenged to better their swimming, the progress made in one summer is extremely evident. Both of my children have benefited from the one on one attention they receive by the instructors and have become very competent swimmers because of it. Coming here is a part of summer that we look forward to every year!

Have had previous issues with the female owners attitude which I'd let go of until today - they refuse to give a class credit to reschedule due to the air quality index being at an 11. From Health Canada: Reduce/reschedule strenuous activities outdoors. Children and the elderly should also avoid all outdoor physical exertion. So, not only are they having their staff members swimming all day outdoors in level 11 air quality, but they refuse give a class credit to an asthmatic kiddo who literally cannot be out in this air as an immune compromised person. Attaching a screenshot of their response below. Please note, "PERSONAL CHOICE", as if we decided to control the weather and personally put out the public health notice to stay indoors. Have canceled all future lessons, won't be back, neither will our friends. It absolutely blows my mind that you would be willing to put $24.00 before the safety of a child. As a fellow small business owner, I understand the value of retaining all money paid ahead of time. But asking for a reschedule credit?? To one of the multiple open slots, was too much for you guys? Wild.

This has been our third summer with Leap into Lessons and it's the best thing we do each summer. Emily and Abby are amazing teachers, kind, encouraging, and disciplined. Our youngest has sensory issues and they have been so accommodating and he adores swimming. They're so professional and amazing to work with. I've recommended them to everyone I know with kids, and so many of my friends have taken their children and have loved it.

This is our second year doing lessons at Leap Into Lessons. My daughter's swimming improved so much. Emily, Abby and the other instructors are encouraging and enthusiastic. They motivate her to achieve the correct form and try new things. Communications are professional and timely. I'm very impressed with how they operate.
